The term Low self confidence can confuse issues of  low self esteem & problems with confidence.

Low self esteem is about our own sense of worth - e.g. poor self image, feeling worthless or having low self acceptance.

Low confidence is specific to situations   e.g. though feeling ' comfortable in your skin '- as the French say - you are not confident of  making a speech at a wedding.

Both difficulties can generate anxiety, defensive tension and negative self talk. The lower one’s self esteem, the more this occurs, the less we can think constructively how to change.

Lack of Confidence, Poor Self Image or Low Self Esteem - can have profound effects - not expressing your thoughts or asserting needs & wishes - giving in too easily and too often.

Being overly self conscious - you may stay quiet in the background - fearful to say what you think - hoping not to be noticed - but feeling quite left out. You may despise yourself. Acting & thinking this way only reinforces the difficulty.

Lack of self presentation & self promotion skills works against us in many ways - limiting chances for personal advancement - & maybe social & personal relationships & quality of life as well.

Mere sympathy or positive affirmations won't help ! Reconstructing self confidence needs proper strategies.

Though non-confident behaviours are easily recognised - the underlying patterns are very individual & may be complex. They require precise analysis to find out how they are constructed. Where the pattern has strong elements of co-dependency & self sacrifice, diagnosis and reconstruction are usually more complex.

Cognitive behavioural strategies may be used to deconstruct negative thought patterns and reactions.  Negative self perceptions, inner states and dialogues are re-fashioned using Ericksonian Hypnosis & NLP technique.

Carefully conceived exercises & experimental tasks generate new possibilities; you experience & think of yourself differently.

Poor self-image is transformed - we boost self esteem - naturally positive attitudes & behaviour become energised - life is re-engaged with new enthusiasm - consolidating your new found self confidence.  You achieve two goals : -

  you can be yourself  with confidence ... & ....

       conduct yourself and do things with confidence.

You will move on - take charge of life -with plenty of new self help skills - meeting challenges competently & well.
